Wichita Public Library Introduces Blood Pressure Monitors for Public Use

Blood pressure monitoring equipment is now available for public use at the Wichita Public Library in Kansas. Innovative Access to Healthcare: The library's 'Library of Things' program offers a variety of equipment and gadgets for cardholders to check out, including the latest addition of blood pressure monitors. Each kit comes with a monitor, logbook, pre-survey, and instruction booklet, allowing individuals to monitor their blood pressure from the comfort of their homes. Empowering Residents for Better Health: Partnering with the Sedgwick County Extension Office, Sedgwick County Health Department, and the American Heart Association, the library aims to empower residents to take control of their health by providing easy access to these monitors. Cardholders can borrow the kits for a two-week period. Community Partnership: Jaime Nix, Director of Libraries, emphasized the importance of easy access to blood pressure monitors, stating that it can potentially save lives by encouraging individuals to monitor their health regularly. Along with the monitors, cardholders are also encouraged to explore a selection of books focusing on heart health. By promoting health literacy and awareness, Wichita Public Library continues to serve as a valuable resource for the community.
