Wawa Expands Footprint in North Carolina with Two New Stores: Locations Revealed

Wawa, the popular convenience store chain, has opened two new locations in North Carolina this week, marking the chain's second and third stores in the state.
Expanding into North Carolina

The new stores, located in Wilson County, are part of Wawa's ambitious plans to open a total of nine locations across the state by the end of 2024. These new openings are a part of the company's strategy to bring its unique offerings, including fresh food, beverages, and exceptional service, to North Carolina residents. Despite the continued growth in the state, Wawa has confirmed that none of the upcoming stores will be in Charlotte. Looking ahead, the chain aims to open a total of 90 stores in North Carolina over the next decade.

Location Details

One of the newly opened stores is situated on Raleigh Road Parkway West, conveniently located near I-95. The second store can be found on Ward Boulevard, just a short distance from Downtown Wilson. While Charlotteans may have to embark on a 3-hour drive to reach these new stores, the unique offerings of Wawa are sure to attract residents and visitors alike.

Plans for Future Growth

Wawa President Brian Schaller expressed excitement about the company's growth in North Carolina, emphasizing the commitment to creating new job opportunities with each store opening. In addition to the recent milestones, Wawa is already planning further expansions beyond this year. In a separate development, the city of Mebane in Alamance County has approved a rezoning application for the state's first Buc-ee's, set to be located on Trollingwood Hawfields Road, just off I-40 and I-85.

As Wawa continues to make its mark in North Carolina, residents can look forward to more convenient access to the chain's iconic hoagies, beverages, baked goods, and more.
