Victim in bar shooting dies from injuries

PRINCETON – An investigation into a shooting Sept. 14 at a Mercer County bar continued Monday after the victim passed away from his injuries.

On Saturday morning, Sept. 14, the Bluefield Police Department and the Mercer County Sheriff's Department responded to the WVU Emergency Room in Bluefield a person that had been shot, according to a statement Monday from Capt. J.J. Ruble with the sheriff's department.

After arriving at the emergency department, law enforcement was informed that the shooting occurred at Jay Jay’s Bar, located at 1188 Coal Heritage Road prior to 3:45 a.m., Ruble said.

The victim was 37-year-old Brock Cambell from Maybeury in McDowell County, Ruble said. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Roanoke Carillion Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation into this case was continuing Monday.
