Walmart has announced its plans to kick off the holiday shopping season earlier than usual with a massive sales event starting in October.
Preparing for the Holidays
According to a recent company news release, nearly half of consumers have already started their holiday shopping as early as August and September. In response to this trend, Walmart has decided to move its holiday sales event to October to better serve its customers. Latriece Watkins, Walmart's executive vice president, stated, 'We know many of our customers are beginning to prepare for their holiday celebrations early, and we’ve adapted our approach to best meet their needs.'
Big Discounts
The Holiday Deals event is expected to offer discounts of up to 50% off on a wide range of items including TVs, computers, clothing, and home goods. The event will run from Oct. 8-13, starting at noon ET on that Tuesday, with Walmart+ members gaining early access 12 hours prior. Watkins highlighted, 'We’ve worked hard to lower prices across our most exciting assortment ever, and we’re thrilled to give customers more of what they want this holiday – more time to prepare and more opportunities to save all season long.'
