Found abandoned and alone in the streets, this puppy shakes and trembles with fear. Charity shelter volunteer, Lauren’s heart shattered at the sight of this terrified puppy. The pup refused to eat, unable to look anyone in the eye. The team knew they had a long healing journey ahead of them.
Found on the streets and taken into the shelter, volunteer Lauren was instantly determined to help this puppy. The Streethearts BG team took him in, and right from the start, they knew that this terrified little guy would need a ton of TLC. He wouldn’t eat anything for the first few days. He avoided eye contact and cowered away if anyone came close to him.
Small Triumphants Cause Big Celebrations
One step forward 2 steps back, that’s how the start of this journey went. A step back came when the pup didn’t want to walk on the lead. Despite the amount of encouragement that he was given, he began to shake in fear once again. He was taken off of the lead, which helped. The team didn’t know what he had been through so the progress was a bit of a trial-and-error journey. They had to learn his triggers and fears. It was a well-known fact that in the area of Bulgaria, people often threw stones and chased stray dogs. His fearful shaking continued to show, breaking the hearts of the team.
Tiny Tails of Progress
After slow and patient steps, the pup, now named Archer, began to realize that he quite enjoyed cuddles. This little step forward caused great celebration as he was slowly making progress. Archer began to see that he was safe now and that not all humans were bad. He began to warm up to Lauren, even coming up to her for love and playtime. After going on a walk with the other dogs, the last step was taking him into town. As expected, he was terrified. He sat, stiff with fear, on Lauren’s lap. On the next trip into town, Archer was a completely different dog, happily wandering around with his new bestie Lauren.
Small Acts Make A Big Difference
Archer had made so much progress, he was a new dog. As heartbreaking as it was for the team to see him go, they knew that the best thing for little Archer was for him to find a perfect forever home. 7 months had gone by and the fearful, shaking dog was nowhere to be seen. Archer was a loving and playful pup. He was now around 1 year old, he had his whole life ahead of him. The team promised him that they would find him the best home possible. A home full of love, with a family that would make him the center of their world. Archer deserved nothing less than the best.
