Revitalizing Classic Fire Emblem Games: A Wish for the Switch Era

After indulging in Fire Emblem Engage and revisiting Three Houses, the urge to see older Fire Emblem RPGs on the Switch grows stronger

Yearning for the Past

Having spent 10 hours immersed in Fire Emblem Engage, memories of older games like Fire Emblem Fates, Awakening, and more flood my mind. The ability to wear rings that channel past Fire Emblem characters' abilities in Engage only amplifies this desire further. Characters like Marth, Lyn, and Celica serve as a nostalgic reminder of the series' rich history of tactical RPGs.

A Summoning Circle for the Classics

With every announcement of a Nintendo Direct, I find myself setting up a summoning circle with my Fire Emblem amiibos in hopes of seeing Fire Emblem Fates and Awakening make their way to the Switch. While the return of more recent 3DS titles may seem unlikely, the prospect of older GameCube and GameBoy Advance games getting a revival fills me with excitement.

Longing for a Revival

Although Fire Emblem Engage offers its own unique charm, it fails to captivate me in the same way Three Houses did. The impact of legacy characters in Engage is undeniable, but Three Houses' ability to immerse players in the story and character development sets it apart. The prospect of experiencing these classics on modern hardware like the Switch or its rumored successor is a dream come true.

Revisiting Favorites

Games like Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates hold a special place in my heart, and the thought of reliving their storytelling and strategic challenges on the Switch is enticing. The bonding system in both games adds a layer of depth and emotion that makes the gameplay experience truly memorable. The convenience of playing on a larger screen, coupled with the nostalgia factor, makes a Switch remaster or port of these classics highly anticipated.

Preserving Gaming Legacy

As older Fire Emblem titles become increasingly rare and expensive to acquire, the need for game preservation and accessibility becomes apparent. The closure of the 3DS store serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving classic titles for future generations. Bringing these games to the Switch not only caters to longtime fans but also allows new players to experience the magic of Fire Emblem.

Hoping for a Rebirth

With each Nintendo Direct, my hopes for the return of classic Fire Emblem games are reignited. Whether it's Awakening, Fates, or any other installment, the prospect of reliving these timeless classics on the Switch is a dream worth holding onto. As I keep my summoning circle at the ready, I eagerly await the day when my prayers for more Fire Emblem goodness are finally answered.
