A Fresh Vision for a Familiar Space
Celine Griffin, along with her husband Trey Griffin, is set to transform the once-colorful art studio into a modern coffee shop and community hotspot. The building's distinct paint splatters and red brick facade, reminiscent of its artistic past, will soon be home to a new era of coffee culture and social gathering.
A Cozy and Inclusive Environment
Third Place Coffee House aims to create a cozy and inclusive atmosphere for all visitors. With organic coffee as their specialty, the establishment promises a welcoming space for coffee enthusiasts and non-coffee drinkers alike. Griffin envisions a homely ambiance within the shop, featuring lounge areas, kid-friendly zones, and dedicated workspaces for productivity. "I want it to feel like your grandmother's house if she was, like, so cool," Griffin expressed.
A Multifaceted Experience
Beyond serving quality coffee, the new venture will offer additional amenities such as an artist studio rental space, outdoor games in the backyard, and a short-term rental apartment on the property. The project is truly a family affair, with Griffin's father, Johannes Mutzke, investing in the property. While Celine will initially run the business solo, her husband is expected to join in the management later on.

Having grown up in the neighborhood and witnessed the art school in action, Griffin holds a sentimental attachment to the building. She plans to retain some of the artistic elements on the exterior while introducing fresh interior designs. As Third Place Coffee House prepares to open its doors in the coming months, it promises to uphold the legacy of creativity and camaraderie that once thrived within its walls.
