Chef Adam Tabura, the owner of consultancy The Spice Rack and Manele Spice Company, is set to highlight his Hawaiian roots at the upcoming Filipino Street Food Festival on Lanai.
Bringing Hawaii to the Mainland
Tabura recently appeared on HNN Sunrise, where he demonstrated his culinary expertise and showcased his range of seasonings and recipes made with local ingredients. He presented a delicious poi-mango bread with honey butter and Hookupu Salt Blend, along with his signature Hawaiian seafood chowder.
A Lifelong Passion
With over three decades of experience in the kitchen, Tabura's love for food was sparked by a heroic act in his youth when he saved a man from drowning. This act of bravery led to an opportunity to pursue his dream of becoming a chef, setting him on a path to success in the culinary world.
From Food Truck Champion to Cookbook Author
Tabura gained national recognition after winning season four of the Food Network's 'The Great Food Truck Race' with his brother and friend. Their victory propelled them to launch their food truck business, Aloha Plate, and earn $50,000. Following this triumph, Tabura authored a popular cookbook, sharing his unique approach to Hawaiian-inspired cuisine and his commitment to giving back to the community.
The Birth of Manele Spice Company
Inspired by Manele Bay on Lanai, where Tabura's life-changing event took place, Manele Spice Company was born. The company specializes in creating premium spice blends using natural ingredients, including salts sourced from Molokai. Each blend has a special story behind it, reflecting Tabura's deep connection to Hawaii's culinary heritage.
