Phoenix Zoo Launches Exciting Contest for Naming Two Adorable Lion Cubs

Phoenix Zoo is thrilled to announce a captivating opportunity for visitors to participate in naming their two new lion cubs this autumn. In a bid to involve the public in this thrilling seasonal surprise, the zoo has created a list of strong names that pay homage to the cubs' African heritage.
What are the potential names for the young Phoenix Zoo lions?
The public is invited to vote for their favorite monikers from a prewritten list that includes names like Azizi, Baahir, Babatunde, Hasani, Jasiri, Moyo, Sibasa, and Tau. The names with the highest votes will be revealed on Sept. 24.
Why can't we see the two new lion cubs now?
The two male cubs, just over three months old, are currently being cared for behind the scenes to ensure their health, safety, and natural development before they join the Predator Passage habitat in October. Zookeepers aim to mimic the cubs' natural behaviors in the wild, with mother Zuri and her young living in a separate enclosure from the rest of the pride. This approach not only promotes the cubs' well-being but also mirrors the natural isolation behavior of female lions who raise their young before reintegrating with the pride. The Phoenix Zoo's dedication to species-appropriate care shines through in their efforts to provide a nurturing environment for all their inhabitants. Stay tuned as the Phoenix Zoo continues to engage the community in the lives of their beloved animals with naming contests and interactive experiences.
