Orange County student found with multiple handgun pieces in backpack

Officials are continuing to investigate after an Ocoee High School student was found with a unassembled weapon on Thursday, the Ocoee Police Department said.According to police, officers at the Orange County school received reports around 8:30 a.m. that a student may have brought gun to campus. After the student was located, police say they searched their backpack, finding the lower half of a handgun, an extended magazine and "other contraband."Police say they have not located the remaining parts of the weapon, but add that no students were injured during the incident.The discovery prompted an investigation, and Ocoee police say students remained in their classrooms while this was happening.Police have not released any additional information, including details of an arrest or potential charges. Officials are continuing to investigate after an Ocoee High School student was found with a unassembled weapon on Thursday, the Ocoee Police Department said.

According to police, officers at the Orange County school received reports around 8:30 a.m. that a student may have brought gun to campus. After the student was located, police say they searched their backpack, finding the lower half of a handgun, an extended magazine and "other contraband."

Police say they have not located the remaining parts of the weapon, but add that no students were injured during the incident.
