Newburgh man convicted for fourth time

Jonathan Arnold

GOSHEN -A 30-year-old Newburgh man was convicted by an Orange County Court jury on Thursday of grand larceny, his fourth felony conviction.

As such, Jonathan Arnold faces a mandatory prison sentence when he is back in court in November.

As alleged, Arnold concealed some $1,600 worth of athletic items in a black bag and left the store without paying, got into a car and drove away.

Store employees gave police a description of the car, which when police stopped and located Arnold, had the stolen merchandise inside.

“Retail theft has pernicious effects that result not only in untold losses to businesses but create difficult and often dangerous situations for workers and shoppers,” said District Attorney David Hoovler.
