New U.S. Travel Rules: What You Need to Know Before Your Next Trip

Planning a trip to the United States? Be prepared for the new travel rules taking effect next week, as the U.S. lifts the pandemic travel ban for foreign visitors. Here's what you need to know before your next trip:

Changes for U.S. Citizens

The entry rules for U.S. Citizens and permanent residents returning to the U.S. are changing. Fully vaccinated travelers must now show proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 test taken within three days of travel. Unvaccinated individuals will need to show a negative COVID test taken within one day of travel. Proof of recovery from COVID within 90 days of travel will also be accepted.

Moreover, all travelers flying to the U.S. must provide contact information to the airline for contact tracing purposes.

Who Can Enter the U.S.?

Starting November 8, only fully vaccinated foreign travelers will be allowed entry into the U.S. Exceptions include children under 18 and visitors from countries with a low vaccination rate. Proof of vaccination, a negative COVID test, and proof of recovery will be required for entry.
