New Owners Bring Old Favorites Back: Mahony's Po-Boys Reopening on Magazine Street with Fresh Flair and Classic Flavors

In a bustling food scene, Mahony's Po-Boys is making a comeback on Magazine Street with a new team at the helm, promising to bring back the classics with a modern twist.
Reviving Tradition:
Originally opening its doors in 2008, Mahony's Po-Boys set out to reimagine the iconic New Orleans po-boy shop experience by paying homage to the timeless favorites while adding a touch of innovation. After a brief closure in July, the beloved establishment is set to reopen on October 3 under the guidance of new owners who share the same vision.
Fresh Faces, Familiar Flavors:
The new crew behind Mahony's includes veterans from the popular whiskey bar Barrel Proof and the French Quarter gem The Will & The Way. Tristan Ferchl will be overseeing the front of the house and the bar, while chef Josh Williams will be leading the kitchen, promising a seamless transition for loyal patrons.
A Taste of Nostalgia:
The menu will feature a mix of traditional favorites like fried shrimp and roast beef po-boys, alongside signature creations like the root beer-glazed ham sandwich and the mouthwatering cochon de lait po-boy. Williams, a Marrero native, will also introduce unique offerings such as a White Castle-inspired po-boy and a tantalizing sandwich with fried shrimp and andouille gravy.
Refreshing the Experience:
While the space undergoes a sprucing up, the essence of Mahony's remains intact with the original sign going back up, reverting to its iconic name, Mahony's Po-Boys. Table service will also make a return, offering diners a cozy and welcoming atmosphere.
A Toast to Tradition:
The bar at Mahony's will continue to be a focal point, with Ferchl planning to introduce new drink offerings alongside the classic draft beer selection. Guests can look forward to creative concoctions like the R & R, a Barq's root beer-infused cocktail with a whiskey twist.
Preserving Legacy, Pioneering Future:
With a rich history that dates back to 2008, Mahony's Po-Boys represents a cultural landmark in the heart of New Orleans. The reopening signals a commitment to preserving neighborhood traditions and supporting local businesses. For Robért LeBlanc, founder of LeBlanc + Smith, Mahony's resurgence marks a strategic move to uphold cherished establishments and provide opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs. By reviving the legacy of Mahony's, LeBlanc hopes to inspire similar initiatives to safeguard the future of beloved institutions in the vibrant New Orleans culinary landscape.
