Nebraska Methodist College Utilizes Cutting-Edge Simulation Technology for Nursing Students' Labor, Delivery Training

Using state-of-the-art simulators for hands-on experience in labor and delivery, Nebraska Methodist College is revolutionizing the way nursing students learn.
Innovative Simulators for Real-World Training

Nebraska Methodist College nursing students are now using advanced robotic simulators, named Noelle and Tory, to simulate real-life labor and delivery scenarios. These lifelike Gaumard Mannequins provide students with an opportunity to practice treating women in labor under various stress levels, ensuring they are prepared for any situation they may encounter.
Safe Space for Learning

The simulators, acquired through a Nebraska Hospital Association Grant, offer students a safe environment to make mistakes, learn from them, and improve their skills without the risk of harming real patients. Colleen Steinhauser, the simulation coordinator at the college, highlights the importance of providing students with a space to practice and enhance their abilities.
Empowering Future Nurses

Nursing student Reanne Roper shares her positive experience working with the simulators, noting significant growth in her skills since beginning with the program. Mother and student Rae McGlothlin expresses her confidence in the preparedness of her peers, emphasizing the importance of being well-equipped before facing real-life delivery situations.
Expanding Opportunities

In an effort to inspire future healthcare professionals, Nebraska Methodist College is extending its simulation program to high school students in Grand Island through a mentorship initiative. By showcasing the advanced tools and techniques used in healthcare, the college aims to spark an interest in the field among young students.
Future of Nursing Education

Looking ahead, the college plans to take its simulation training to the next level by introducing live-streamed simulations featuring Noelle and Tory. This innovative approach will allow nurses across the Methodist Health System to engage in professional development activities from any location, enhancing their skills and knowledge. Nebraska Methodist College is setting a new standard in nursing education through cutting-edge simulation technology, preparing students for successful careers in healthcare.
