The Greenville County coroner released the name of the woman found shot to death inside a car on Wednesday.
Investigators said they were called just before 8 a.m. after a person discovered an unfamiliar vehicle parked in the front yard of their home on Highway 8.
They said a woman was found dead in the front passenger seat with at least one gunshot wound.
The Greenville County coroner's office has identified her as 41-year-old Mindy Lee McDonald. Her cause of death was a gunshot wound.
"At this point in time, our investigators are just trying to uncover whatever evidence they might have at the scene and of course talk with anyone who might have been a potential witness or maybe has some information pertaining to this case so we can try to find the person or individuals responsible for her murder," said Lt. Ryan Flood, Greenville County Sheriff's Office PIO.
