TRAPPE, Md. – A man has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting at a Trappe gas station Tuesday morning.

The incident took place just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, at a gas station in the 4100 block of Ocean Gateway. Troopers arrived at the scene to find the victim, identified as 29-year-old Aigner Smith of Salisbury, suffering from gunshot wounds to his arm and face. He was airlifted to Shock Trauma, where he remains hospitalized.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Smith and the suspect, 36-year-old Antonio Bolden, are coworkers who arrived at the gas station in a van before the shooting. After Bolden reportedly fled the scene in the van, an alert was issued for police to be on the lookout. A short time later, Cambridge Police officers and Dorchester County Sheriff’s deputies found the van and saw Bolden trying to carjack another vehicle in Cambridge.

Bolden is charged with first degree attempted murder, first degree assault, and numerous misdemeanors, including reckless endangerment and firearms offenses.

Police are continuing to investigate this incident and are working to determine a motive.
