Accuweather says more than one weather system threatens the Gulf Coast with possible hurricanes early next week. Recent hurricanes have flooded parts of Texas and New Orleans, and tropical storms have brought record rains to the Carolinas.
Accuweather experts say, AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Jon Porter. “We increased the development potential to ‘high’ because we are concerned that a tropical storm can form in the Caribbean or Gulf and approach the United States, and there won’t be many days to track it.”
Hurricane Season
The next Atlantic storm will be named Helene. Hurricane season lasts until November.
The current hurricane season has disappointed those who are counting and not those threatened by storms. A warm Atlantic was to bring what might have been record numbers of storms, particularly furious storms.
Few Storms
The lack of powerful storms may be because the Altntica has not warmed as expected. Some areas of the ocean have cooled unexpectedly.
Accuweather added, “The more we look at this forecast and the latest guidance, the more concerned I am about a potential hurricane developing in the Gulf of Mexico next week. All of the ingredients are coming together,”. The service does do a box office business when storms are expected, even if the odds are long.
