For over three decades, the Grosshein family has been instrumental in organizing German bands from Munich to perform at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati in Cincinnati. It has become a dream come true for these bands to showcase their talent in the largest Oktoberfest celebration outside of Munich.

As Cincinnati gears up to host the biggest Oktoberfest in the U.S., the coordination of German bands has become an international effort that highlights cultural exchange and community building. David Dalton, the special events coordinator of the German American Citizens League, expressed pride in the city's achievement of hosting such a renowned festival.


Fostering Lifelong Connections:

The Grosshein family, consisting of a local brother, sister, and sister-in-law, is dedicated to finding host housing, organizing additional performances, and facilitating the use of instruments borrowed from local high schools for the visiting bands. This tradition, which originated in the early nineties, has been passed down through generations within the family.


A Dream Realized:

Through the sister city partnership between Munich and Cincinnati, the German band members have the opportunity to fulfill their aspirations of performing at Oktoberfest Zinzinnati. Many of these musicians have been honing their craft since childhood, making it a lifelong dream to showcase their talents in the United States.

While the location of the festival may change to Sawyer Point, the essence of fostering cultural exchange and strengthening bonds will remain unchanged. The upcoming Oktoberfest promises to be grander than ever, with a schedule packed full of entertainment and activities for attendees to enjoy.
