Tragic Loss: College Runner Dies After Collapsing at Track Meet

A tragic incident has struck the Georgia college community, as a young cross-country runner collapsed during a track meet and later passed away.
Mourning a Loss
The Bibb County coroner has identified the victim as Nefertari Holston, a 23-year-old student. She was pronounced dead at 10 a.m. at the Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center.

Wesleyan College expressed their deep sadness in a statement to Channel 2 Action News, saying, "The entire Wesleyan Community is deeply saddened by the death of one of our students. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during this difficult time. This student has been a vibrant part of our campus, and this loss will no doubt impact us all. We are providing counseling services to our students, and we encourage anyone to reach out. In a related update, a spokesperson for Mercer Athletics mentioned that another individual, Moody, was also taken to the hospital after the incident but is currently in stable condition. Moody is being monitored by the healthcare team at Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center in downtown Macon.
