Federal Grant of $600,000 Awarded to Mosaic Community Health for Mental Health and Addiction Treatment in Central Oregon

Mosaic Community Health in Central Oregon has recently been granted a substantial $600,000 federal grant to enhance mental health and addiction treatment services in the region. This funding comes as a significant boost for Mosaic, as the organization has been facing challenges in meeting the increasing demand for patient care due to a shortage of staff.

Addressing Staff Shortage and Enhancing Services

Mosaic acknowledges that one of their primary hurdles has been ensuring an adequate workforce to cater to the rising number of patients seeking assistance. With the newly acquired grant, Mosaic plans to address this issue by recruiting and training new staff. Rachel Gerken, the Medical Director of Behavioral Health at Mosaic, expressed her optimism about the funding, emphasizing that it will enable the organization to bring in new employees, particularly in rural areas where recruitment has been challenging, as well as provide additional training opportunities for existing staff members.

Expanding Behavioral Health Services Across Oregon

The $600,000 award to Mosaic is part of a larger $4.1 million grant allocated by the Health Resources and Services Administration to bolster behavioral health services at seven health centers in Oregon. Apart from Mosaic Community Health in Prineville, other recipients include Umpqua Community Health Center, Inc. in Roseburg, One Community Health in Hood River, Multnomah County health centers in Portland, Neighborhood Health Center in Portland, Wallace Medical Concern in Portland, and Asher Community Health Center in Fossil. This initiative demonstrates a concerted effort to enhance mental health and addiction treatment facilities statewide.

This substantial financial support reflects a pivotal milestone in advancing the provision of mental health and addiction treatment services in Central Oregon. By securing the $600,000 grant, Mosaic Community Health is poised to make significant strides in addressing the prevailing challenges and ensuring access to quality care for individuals in need.
