will showcase the exceptional work of 68 talented photographers from the Midwest region. Organizer and FlakPhoto director, Andy Adams, emphasizes the importance of having a dedicated photography festival in Madison, alongside the city's other cultural events.

Celebrating Local Talent

PhotoMidwest, a community photography organization based in Madison, has been hosting its biennial exhibition since 2000. This year's festival not only features the main exhibition but also includes additional exhibitions, speaker sessions, and documentary screenings.

Encouraging Photography Enthusiasts

Andy Adams, a Wisconsin native, recognized the growing interest in photography within the Madison community. The festival aims to bridge the gap in programming dedicated to photography and inspire future events in the city.

The following day offers a workshop on "Professional Practices for Photographers" by Graves, a talk by Kelli Connell on her book "Pictures for Charis," and a session with Deanna Dikeman on her project "Relative Moments." The festival closes with a keynote speech by Kris Graves.

Engaging Exhibitions

Aside from the PhotoMidwest exhibition, attendees can explore Rashod Taylor's "Little Black Boy" exhibit, delving into themes of Black parenthood in America, and a curated exhibition featuring works from 10 Midwest photographers, including Sarah Stellino.

Immersive Experience

Andy Adams invites visitors to engage with photography in its physical form, emphasizing the unique experience of viewing printed photographs and interacting with the artists behind the lens.
