A long-awaited dream to revamp the Lucille Ball Memorial Park and transform it into an all-inclusive haven has finally become a reality. After eight to nine years of dedication, Celoron village officials proudly unveiled the new, all-inclusive playground complex.
A Labor of Love and Funding
According to Celoron Clerk and Treasurer Shirley Sanfilippo, the journey to open the park was no easy feat. The Village Board committed close to eight or nine years to ensure the new park's 100% accessibility for everyone. Various grants and funding sources, including state Environmental Protect Fund contributions, Community Impact Grants, and support from organizations like the Ralph C. Sheldon Foundation and the Chautauqua Regional Community Foundation, were instrumental in bringing the project to life.
