The Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge in Cameron and Vermilion Parishes has announced a week-long delay in its opening hours due to the scheduled controlled alligator harvest.
New Hours of Operation
From September 4 to September 10, the refuge will open to visitors at noon each day, allowing the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to conduct the annual harvest during the morning hours. Trappers will be utilizing their designated tags until the quota is met for the season.
License Requirement
Anyone planning to visit the RWR during this time must possess a valid Louisiana hunting or fishing license to access the grounds. Known for its recreational fishing opportunities, the refuge offers activities such as crabbing, shrimping, and speckled trout fishing. If you need more details on the delayed opening, check out the refuge's official website for further information.
