Empowering Young Women Through Maine Martial Arts Classes

For the past half-decade, Leisha Petrovich has been leading an exclusive all-women's karate group at Maine Kyokushin Karate Dojo, focusing on empowering young girls. With a group of ten elementary school students, Petrovich not only imparts karate techniques but also mentors the girls on handling challenging situations. Conversations in the class revolve around crucial topics like leadership, combating bullying, and standing up against peer pressure. Empowering Young Women is the core mission Petrovich emphasizes in her sessions. Recalling a personal experience with her daughter, Katie, who battled peer pressure and addiction, Petrovich stresses the importance of building inner strength and confidence in her students.
