Empowering Young Women: Pueblo High School Hosts Inspirational 'Campaign Workshop'

In a bid to inspire young women to pursue leadership roles, Pueblo High School in Tucson, Arizona, recently hosted the 21st annual 'Running and Winning' event. The event, organized by multiple Tucson organizations, aimed to encourage young women to consider running for office in the future.

Empowering Future Leaders

Dozens of female students gathered in the school library to listen to speeches from local women currently holding office. Following this, the students were divided into groups where they were tasked with creating their own mock campaigns. They developed platforms, delivered speeches, and participated in a voting process to determine the winner.

Collaborative Efforts

'Running and Winning' is an annual event coordinated by the League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, and the YWCA of Southern Arizona. The organizers emphasize the importance of increasing female representation in leadership positions.

'We're 51% of the population, but don't hold 51% of the offices,' highlighted Isabel Georgelos, the Deputy Director of the Women's Business Center for the YWCA. 'This event serves as a catalyst to inspire young women to consider leadership roles and contribute to shaping a more balanced society.'

Through engaging activities and insightful discussions, the 'Campaign Workshop' at Pueblo High School successfully instilled a sense of empowerment and ambition in the attending young women. The event not only encouraged participants to envision themselves as future leaders but also highlighted the significance of gender equality in positions of influence.
