Empowering Health Equity: AbbVie Foundation and MATTER Launch Health Equity Accelerator

The AbbVie Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting transformative change and advancing health equity globally, has teamed up with MATTER, a leading healthcare incubator and innovation hub, to introduce the AbbVie Foundation Health Equity Accelerator. This initiative aims to support the development of innovative and scalable solutions for communities with limited access to healthcare services.

Empowering Underserved Communities

Many underserved communities face challenges in accessing quality healthcare due to geographical, physical, and cultural barriers, as well as discrimination and bias. The AbbVie Foundation Health Equity Accelerator seeks to bridge these gaps by empowering community-based organizations to enhance access to quality care and create meaningful impact.

Support for Innovation

Under this program, the AbbVie Foundation and MATTER will select up to five community-based organizations in the U.S. to participate in an eight-week Accelerator. Each selected organization will receive a $10,000 stipend, with one organization receiving a $50,000 unrestricted grant to further develop their innovative health equity solutions.

Addressing Health Inequity

Steven Collens, CEO of MATTER, emphasizes the importance of addressing the limited access to quality healthcare services as a key driver of health inequity in the U.S. The partnership between AbbVie Foundation and MATTER aims to leverage accelerator capabilities to support and scale nonprofit organizations tackling this critical challenge.

How to Get Involved

For community-based organizations interested in participating, more information and application details are available on the AbbVie Foundation Health Equity Accelerator website.
