Jamerican Kitchen has made a triumphant return in Beachwood, Ohio, with a bigger and better location. The new Jamerican Kitchen & Café near the Richmond Road-Chagrin Boulevard intersection has been drawing in crowds since its opening in August. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, this establishment offers a unique fusion of Jamaican cuisine with an American twist.
From Home Kitchen to Restaurant
Originally hailing from Jamaica, owner Sidonna Turner has honed her culinary skills in Florida and Ohio. She first introduced Jamerican Kitchen in 2017 while catering from her home kitchen. After experiencing growth in demand, she expanded to a small restaurant on South Taylor Road in 2019.
A Taste of Authenticity
Featuring a diverse menu that includes oxtail, goat curry, jerk chicken, callaloo greens, rice and peas, and sweet plantains, Jamerican Kitchen stays true to its roots with flavor authenticity. Turner emphasizes the importance of maintaining the traditional Jamaican taste while catering to individual preferences. For those who enjoy a kick of heat, the curry can be spiced up upon request.
Local Ingredients, Global Flavors
One of the highlights of the menu is the callaloo greens, a Jamaican staple that Turner sources from local farmers in Northeast Ohio. Described as softer than collard greens with a hint of turnip flavor, these greens add a unique touch to the dining experience. Additionally, Jamerican Kitchen will soon be offering a variety of Caribbean-inspired beverages with the upcoming liquor license.
