The Georgia Department of Economic Development Commissioner, Pat Wilson, expressed enthusiasm for the new service, emphasizing the economic ties between Italy and the state of Georgia. Wilson stated, "Italy is a top trading partner with significant investments in the Peach State." Delta will also revive its Atlanta-Brussels route, which has been dormant since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, with thrice-weekly flights starting June 10. These seasonal routes to Naples and Brussels will run until late October. In addition to the new routes, Delta plans to enhance its services from Atlanta to various European destinations next summer, including Athens, Barcelona, Rome, and Zurich. Delta's managing director of domestic network planning, David Hart, highlighted the airline's strategy to increase domestic services from Atlanta, particularly to popular ski destinations during the winter season. Hart noted, "Atlanta is our biggest hub in the Southeast, and the Sun Belt region is leading the way in demand recovery. We're capitalizing on those demand trends, and Atlanta is the premier Southeastern hub in the U.S."
