City of Edmond's Energy-Saving Program Offers Free Trees to Residents

The
City of Edmond
is launching a groundbreaking initiative to help residents save energy by providing them with free trees. Collaborating with the
Arbor Day Foundation
, Edmond Electric and Edmond Urban Forestry are spearheading the annual
Energy-Saving Trees Program
. This innovative program aims to not only enhance the urban landscape but also to promote energy conservation.

Residents of Edmond can now benefit from this program by receiving a free tree for their property. Through an online tool developed by the city, residents can determine the optimal location on their property to plant the tree. By inputting specific details about their home and yard, the tool calculates the ideal placement for maximum energy and cost savings.

To date, the City of Edmond has distributed an impressive 2,890 trees to residents in collaboration with the Arbor Day Foundation. This initiative has led to a substantial reduction of 3.7 million kWh, highlighting the significant environmental impact of planting trees.

For residents interested in participating, 245 trees are available for reservation starting from Sept. 30. To reserve a tree, simply visit the designated link provided by the city. The reserved trees can then be picked up on Oct. 3 and Oct. 4 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Bickham-Rudkin Park.

Don't miss this opportunity to contribute to energy conservation and enhance the greenery in your surroundings. For more information on this transformative program, visit the official website linked here.
