CHICO, Calif. - The Chico Community Observatory in Upper Bidwell Park is reopening its doors after closing for over a year.
In February, the Chico Area Recreation and Park District revealed it was taking over the facility and managing it. The grand reopening is Friday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in Upper Bidwell Park, near Horseshoe Lake.
People are encouraged to dress up in their best Star Wars-themed costumes and enjoy a night of stargazing. Visitors can also expect more soon.
CARD says parking at the observatory is limited. More parking is available along Upper Park Road and by Horseshoe Lake.
There will be stargazing, appearances by Star Wars characters and costumes are encouraged.
