Bright Blue Greeters Bring Positivity to Charleston Students

Volunteers Offer Warm Greetings to Students at Charleston School

In a heartwarming display of community support, volunteers at Warren E. Hearnes Elementary in Charleston, Missouri, are making a positive impact on students' mornings. A group known as Bright Blue Greeters, consisting of male volunteers, takes on the noble task of spreading love and encouragement by simply saying 'Hello' and more as students kick off their school week.

Creating a Sense of Community

The initiative, which started last spring, was spearheaded by the Charleston Ministerial Alliance with the goal of fostering connections with students and the community. Every Monday, these dedicated volunteers stand outside the Charleston R-1 School, offering warm greetings and motivating students to embrace the day ahead. Milton Harrington, a devoted volunteer since the program's inception, highlighted the importance of coming together as a community to welcome and uplift students, emphasizing the unity and family spirit in Charleston.

Spreading Positivity

B.J. Babb, the Communication Specialist for Charleston's R-1 School District, commended the Bright Blue Greeters for their essential role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for students. Expressing gratitude for the volunteers' commitment, Babb noted the significant impact they have on starting the school week on a positive note. The presence of these volunteers, which includes dads, grandfathers, pastors, and other community members, is truly uplifting and sets a great example for the students.

Expanding the Movement

Looking ahead, Bright Blue Greeters aim to encourage more community members to join their cause and extend their heartfelt greetings to other schools in Charleston. Their mission of spreading positivity and building a supportive environment for students is an admirable one, and they welcome anyone interested in becoming a Bright Blue Greeter to reach out to the Charleston R-1 School District.
