Atlantic City's Midtown CDC continues to make strides in cleaning up the city's Midtown area through their monthly Adopt-A-Block program.
Monthly Cleanups Bring Community Together:
The Midtown Atlantic City Community Development Corporation (Midtown CDC) hosted their 3rd 'Adopt-A-Block' cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, where volunteers gathered to address litter, illegal dumping, and other trash in public spaces. The program, in collaboration with the city, neighbors, and business owners, aims to make the neighborhood cleaner and safer for all.
Growing Participation and Impact:
The cleanups, typically drawing 15 to 20 volunteers, focus on seven Midtown blocks and target areas in need of the greatest cleanup efforts. Block captains play a crucial role in organizing the cleanups, providing supplies, motivating volunteers, and educating the community.
Community Development for a Brighter Future:
Midtown CDC's efforts not only improve the physical appearance of the neighborhood but also contribute to its economic growth by keeping it clean and attractive. Trash collected during the cleanups is weighed to track the organization's impact on the community.
Residents' Positive Feedback:
Volunteers like Sonndy Exantus and Rae-Anne Brown have seen a significant decrease in the amount of litter collected, thanks to the ongoing cleanups. Residents are also showing appreciation for the initiative, with some stepping out of their homes to thank the volunteers for their hard work.
Continuing Support and Engagement:
The Adopt-A-Block program is gaining momentum, with more residents getting involved and showing support for a cleaner and safer environment. By focusing on community enhancement, Midtown CDC is paving the way for a brighter future for Atlantic City. For more information on how to get involved, visit the Midtown CDC's website.
