Art Show Fundraiser at MCCC Trenton Campus Raises Funds for Artist Battling Cancer

A one-night only pop-up solo exhibition entitled
Supporting Talent: A Fight Against Cancer
aims to raise funds for a local artist diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer. Visual artist FlyKickz has organized this event to support her friend and fellow contemporary artist, Matt Morton, also known as "ArtofMatLoc", on his journey to recovery. The exhibition is set to take place on October 11 from 6-9 p.m. at Mercer County Community College's James Kerney Campus in Trenton, located at 137 N.Broad St. All proceeds from this event will go towards supporting the 37-year-old artist.
Bold Acts of Generosity
FlyKickz, an artist and philanthropist known for her unique style of art using up-cycled sneakers on canvas, has been actively involved in various community initiatives over the years. Since 2018, she has raised over $25K to support different community projects. When she learned about Matt Morton's diagnosis, she wasted no time in mobilizing support for the Art Show Fundraiser. With the help of friends, supporters, and a grant from ISLES, FlyKickz was able to secure a venue and organize the event in a span of just 40 days.
A Journey of Resilience
Matt Morton's cancer diagnosis earlier this year marked a turning point in his life. Despite the challenges he faces, Morton remains positive and uses his love for art as a source of strength to overcome the pain. FlyKickz describes the collection showcased in the exhibition, titled "ArtOverPain", as a representation of resilience in the face of adversity. The artworks reflect the journey of perseverance, showcasing how art can help overcome obstacles and triumph over pain. Morton is currently working on new pieces for the upcoming exhibition.
Unity in Fight
FlyKickz emphasizes the importance of community support in the battle against cancer. She believes that coming together to support each other is essential in overcoming challenges. The event will feature an evening of art, music, food, raffles, and more. For more information, contact 609-510-3059 or email Info@IamFlyKickz.com. Together, let's unite to conquer cancer!
