Dire warnings to flee as Hurricane Milton begins to lash Florida: 'This is your last chance'

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Officials in a Tampa Bay-area county say that they're taking buses off the roads as Hurricane Milton bears down and that it's people's “last chance if you need to get to a shelter.” Florida began to see Milton's rain, wind and tornadoes Wednesday even as the powerful storm's center remains over 150 miles away in the Gulf of Mexico. The National Hurricane Center stresses it is not certain exactly where Milton’s center will come ashore Wednesday night. But it says the entire Tampa Bay region and points south are at grave risk. Tampa Bay has not taken a direct hit from a major hurricane in more than a century.
