21st Annual Blackberry Jam Music Festival Raises Funds for Affordable Housing in Franklin

Watching visitors stake out their spots in front of the stage at the 21st annual Blackberry Jam Music Festival, Derrick Solomon reflected on the event's significance. New Leadership and Venue Under new leadership, the event relocated to the Park at Harlinsdale Farm in Franklin, bringing it closer to the heart of the community. Director Solomon expressed his excitement at the festival's return to its roots, emphasizing the importance of showcasing the event in their 'backyard.' Despite the sweltering heat, attendees gathered at the Hayes House for a day filled with music, food, and camaraderie. Music Lineup and Community Mission The festival boasted a talented lineup of musicians, including headliner Reyna Roberts and local band Poor Lisa, keeping the audience entertained and engaged. However, beyond the music, the event served a greater purpose. Proceeds from the festival support the Hard Bargain Association's mission to provide affordable housing in the historic Hard Bargain neighborhood. Fundraising Success and Future Goals With an estimated doubled amount raised compared to the previous year, the event fell just short of the fundraising goal of $50,000. The HBA is committed to completing ongoing housing projects and is seeking support to reach their target. Community Support and Collaboration Solomon's team expressed gratitude for the support received from sponsors and the community. Notably, the collaboration of all three Franklin rotary groups was highlighted as a significant partnership in the event's success. As the organizers reflect on this year's achievements, they look forward to future opportunities to make a positive impact on affordable housing in Franklin.
