2,000 Pounds of Wiener Products Recalled for Undeclared Allergens: Urgent Information Inside

Dearborn Sausage Company, Inc., a renowned producer of various meat products, has issued a recall of nearly 2,000 pounds of wiener products due to mislabeling and undeclared allergens, as reported by the US Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Mislabeling Leads to Undeclared Allergens

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the labels for two ready-to-eat (RTE) wiener products had been switched, resulting in soy, a common allergen, and pork not being declared on the packaging. Dearborn Sausage Company was made aware of this error when a retailer raised concerns about the mislabeled beef wiener products. The mislabeling led to packages labeled as 'beef and pork' containing soy, which was not listed in the nutrition information, and packages mislabeled as 'beef' actually containing pork as well. The affected products were specifically shipped to retail locations in Ohio.
Specific Products Recalled

According to the USDA, a total of 1,944 pounds of ready-to-eat wiener products made on August 7, 2024, are subject to the recall. These products include 2-lb. vacuum-sealed packages of 'BROOKSIDE BRAND FULLY COOKED NATURAL CASING BEEF WIENERS' that may contain undeclared pork with lot code A0122024 and sell by date 11/05/2024, as well as 2-lb. vacuum-sealed packages of 'BROOKSIDE BRAND NATURAL CASING FULLY COOKED WIENERS' that may contain undeclared soy with lot code A0322024 and sell by date 11/05/2024. The recalled products bear establishment number 'EST. 10002' inside the USDA mark of inspection.
Important Instructions for Consumers

Consumers who have purchased these recalled products are advised not to consume them and instead discard them or return them to the place of purchase. Retailers with these products in stock should refrain from selling them to consumers. While there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions linked to these products, individuals worried about any potential injury or illness related to the consumption of these products should seek guidance from their healthcare provider.
