Former President Donald Trump's campaign issued a furious statement attacking Vice President Kamala Harris over her press conference on Wednesday.

Harris specifically raked Trump over the coals for his newly revealed remarks while in office to his former chief of staff, retired Marine Gen. John Kelly.

“It is deeply troubling and incredibly dangerous that Donald Trump would invoke Adolf Hitler, the man who is responsible for the deaths of six million Jews and hundreds of thousands of Americans,” said Harris. “Donald Trump said that because he does not want a military that is loyal to the United States Constitution, he wants a military that is loyal to him.”

Trump's spokesman, Steven Cheung, blew up in a statement responding to the news conference.

"Kamala Harris is a stone-cold loser who is increasingly desperate because she is failing, and her campaign is in shambles," said Cheung. "That is why she continues to peddle outright lies and falsehoods that are easily disproven."

Cheung did not provide evidence refuting reporting on Kelly's conversation with Trump, in which the former president reportedly said he wanted his generals to be more like Hitler's generals.

"The fact is that Kamala's dangerous rhetoric is directly to blame for the multiple assassination attempts against President Trump and she continues to stoke the flames of violence all in the name of politics," Cheung continued, again without evidence. "She is despicable and her grotesque behavior proves she is wholly unfit for office."

The reporting, first revealed in The Atlantic, also disclosed for the first time that Trump tried to back out of paying for the funeral service of a fallen soldier, 20-year-old Pvt. Vanessa Guillén, proclaiming, "It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a f---ing Mexican!"
