FRANKFORT, Ky. — State regulators will hold a hearing today to consider whether to allow a massive solar farm to be built in Pike County.

Savion Energy proposes to build a 100 megawatt facility on more than 15-hundred acres of abandoned mine land along U.S. 119, northeast of Pikeville. If approved, the company predicts it will lead to up to 240 direct jobs and 88 spinoff jobs during the 12-to-15 month construction period.

The hearing will take place at the PSC’s office in Frankfort and will be livestreamed on the PSC’s website, psc.ky.gov. It is scheduled to begin at 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.

More information about the proposal can be found on the project’s website, pikecountysolarproject.com.
