Mary J. Blige is embracing a new chapter in her life, focusing on forgiveness and personal growth.
Lessons of Forgiveness
During a recent interview on 'Sherri,' the 53-year-old icon reflected on the valuable lessons she learned following her highly publicized divorce from ex-husband Kendu Isaacs in 2018. Blige emphasized the importance of forgiveness in her healing journey, stating, "What I learned is that forgiveness was for me. To hell with them. I don't like that ugly, bitter feeling — that's not mine, that belongs to you. You did what you did, but I have to move on. In order for me to feel good and manifest all the good things in my life, I have to let you go... for me."
New Beginnings
Blige and Isaacs' 13-year marriage came to an end due to irreconcilable differences, resulting in a messy divorce with accusations of infidelity and financial issues. Despite the challenges, Blige confirmed that she is now in a new relationship, stating, "It's going well because I'm doing well for myself. I feel good about me. I look good to me. I'm embracing me. When you embrace you, everything is embracing you."
Future Plans
While considering the possibility of retirement from music, Blige hinted that she's not quite ready to step away from her career just yet, expressing, "Probably, not yet." Fans can anticipate the upcoming 'For My Fans' tour in January 2025, featuring performances with Ne-Yo and Mario. Additionally, Blige is set to release her new album 'Gratitude' this November, showcasing her continued growth both personally and professionally. Furthermore, the music icon will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, next month alongside other legendary artists like Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Kool & The Gang, and A Tribe Called Quest on October 19.
