People have a bone to pick with Gordon Ramsay over this cooking decision.

On an joint Instagram post with the British celebrity chef and one of his restaurants, Street Pizza, they showcased one of their items on their menu for #NationalPastaDay. In the video, hands are seen making Spaghetti Carbonara with the final presentation of the meal and then the exterior shot of the front door of the restaurant at the end. The caption of the post made on October 17 with a spaghetti emoji at the end, read: "#NationalPastaDay the right way !! Our delicious spaghetti carbonara at @streetpizzausa. "

But it was one ingredient in the dish that had people up in arms and sounding off in the comments. People were not keen about peas being included in carbonara.

One user said: "I’m not even Italian and I’m offended." A second person wrote: "I don't know what you were making... But that.. ain't no Carbonara. Another exclaimed: "This is not the 'right' way!! Carbonara = NO cream!! And peas…" A fourth user said: "Gordon it’s not too late to delete this, this is embarrassing." A fifth user said: "For fudge sake... Guanciale, egg and pecorino, it's not that hard [four crying emojis]."

Carbonara is a traditional Italian dish where it's origins is debated but is mainly said to be from Rome specifically the Lazio region. It's also been attributed to a Neapolitan pasta dish called pasta cacio e uova that is made with liquified lard, beaten raw eggs, and cheese. Carbonara derives from the world carbonaro which means coal burner so some say it's a meal created by coal workers. Another belief, is that American soldiers in Rome during World War II incorporated their eggs and bacon to pasta with cheese.

Carbonara as it's known today is made with these simple few ingredients such as eggs, bacon (or any variation of cured pork), guanciale, Pecorino Romano cheese and black pepper. The pasta customarily used with this meal is spaghetti.

Street Pizza is one of Gordon's restaurants which started in London. There's a Washington, DC location which opened in June and several international locations (Dubai, Qatar, Malaysia and Korea). The restaurant serves pizzas, pasta, salad, wings, desserts and drinks. The controversial pasta dish cost $19.
