CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The man arrested for the hit-and-run that killed 7-year-old Amir Maclin had his bond increased from $100,000 to $1 million.

Donald Mynatt, 32, has pleaded not guilty to the charges of negligent homicide, tampering with evidence and not stopping after an accident.

Mynatt’s bond was originally set at $5 million in Cleveland Municipal Court on Sept. 6.

On Sept. 16, Mynatt appeared in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas and his bond was reduced to $100,000.

He went back to court on Sept. 25 and Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Joan Synenberg raised the bond to $1 million.

According to police, around 7:20 p.m. on Aug. 16, Amir was riding his skateboard in the parking lot at 16024 Lakeshore Blvd. when a large SUV struck him.

The little boy was dragged under the vehicle and the driver continued out of the parking lot and fled the scene.

Amir was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

“The loss of Amir has impacted our community and the Division of Police. Our teams have worked tirelessly investigating and following all leads to bring closure for Amir’s family. We ask the community to keep his family in your prayers,” said Cleveland Police Chief Dorothy Todd.

A felony warrant was issued for Mynatt on Aug. 28 and he was taken into custody on Sept. 5.
