After DEI remark, Trump supporter Dr. Phil gets put in his place with a stinging one-liner

As one of the featured speakers at the racism-filled Donald Trump MAGA rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, Phil McGraw — who has made his millions as “Dr. Phil,” an advise-dispensing TV counselor — railed against diversity, equity and inclusion.

He hinted that Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris was chosen because of her color after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race.

McGraw pointed to the name of his production company, Merit Street Media, with pride — and an astounding lack of self-awareness.

“By the way, we didn’t choose the name for that by random — Merit Street Media,” he said. “This country was built on hard work, added value and talent, not on equal outcome, not on DEI. This country was built on hard work.”

To which one Twitter critter tweeted, “Isn’t he only famous because of a Black woman?”

McGraw began his TV career as a guest on The Opra Winfrey Show. Winfrey, of course, is a strong supporter of Harris and recently hosted a virtual town hall event for her. McGraw, ironically, attacked stars like Winfrey — without mentioning her name. Was that by design?

“You guys aren’t dumb,” he told the crowd. “You don’t need to be told what to think. You just need the facts, and you’re here because you have the facts, right? You’re here because you recognize when legacy media edits answers and gives you what they want you to hear instead of the truth, and when they start editing their candidates answers, they’ve lost their moral compass.

“They’ve lost their way. And I would love to say it’s equal on both sides, but I’ll guarantee you when Beyonce, George Clooney, De Niro and Lizzo come out and say they’re for Kamala Harris ... did you read anything or hear anything in the media criticizing it? No, but you watch what happens tomorrow morning when people find out I came here to talk to you. You say this in Hollywood and all of a sudden, you ain’t got a job. Problem is, I don’t need one.”
