31-year-old man dead dies in Stockbridge crash

A 31-year-old man is dead after being struck by a drunk driver in the town of Stockbridge, according to the New York State Police.

At around 7:35 a.m. on Oct. 20, troopers received a call about a vehicle striking a house. Upon arrival, troopers were advised by a witness that there was a second vehicle involved, which was located several hundred feet from the impact site in a side yard.

Two people who had been in the car had fled on foot, troopers said.

An investigation revealed that DaAngelo Polk, 31, of Munnsville, was driving his white 1994 Dodge Dakota pickup northbound on State Route 46 when he was t-boned by Evan Donda, 19 from Camden, who was driving a red 2021 Dodge Ram eastbound on Peterboro Road with a 16-year-old passenger.

Police said Donda failed to stop at the stop sign and was speeding. The impact of the crash caused Polk and his vehicle to collide with the residence located on the corner. Polk sustained multiple injuries from being ejected.

Polk was transported to Wynn Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

During the investigation, a victim arrived on the scene and advised troopers that the red 2021 Dodge Ram was his truck, and it had been stolen from a house in Camden, sometime overnight.

An investigation revealed Donda to appear to be under the influence and was administered a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was transported to Oneida, where he submitted to a breath test, which resulted in a BAC 0.09%.

Donda was charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, endangering the welfare of a child, and several vehicle and traffic law violations.  He was processed and transported to Madison County CAP court for arraignment.

State police were assisted on scene by Madison County Sheriffs Office, Oneida City Police Department, Vineall Ambulance, and Munnsville Fire Department.
